Antigua’s Lighting Finishes are distinctive in application, character
and appearance, giving each lighting fixture its Old World look and
feel.
After Antigua’s blacksmiths have completed the task of creating the
fixture, they are sent to be sand-blasted to get them down to the bare
metal where the final finish will begin.
For the painted finishes, several coats of lacquer sealer are applied
to the bare metal to prevent rusting, then hand painted by Antigua’s
finishers to achieve the selected colors and effects. Final topcoats
are applied to seal in the color. For our Lacquered Rust finish, each
fixture is sealed with 3 coats of sealer after completing its rust
cycle and then given its final top coat for a reduced sheen.
Our Blacksmiths are given the task of obtaining the Fired Brown Wax
finish. After sandblasting, the fixture is placed on the hot fire
again and when red hot, a specially prepared heavy brown wax is
brushed on which sizzles upon application and penetrates into the
iron. After cooling, the finish is buffed out to achieve a stunning
antique patina.
Choose from five finishes – Antique Black, Antique Iron, Faux Brown,
which are painted, or the Lacquered Rust and Fired Brown Wax. |
